Arizona state legislators have launched a full-on assault on voting rights and democratic norms. They are trying to:
- Purge Arizona’s Permanent Early Voter List (or PEVL)
- Destroy mail-in voting as we know it by making it difficult for people without an Arizona driver’s license to vote by mail
- Dramatically shorten the early voting period… and throw out ballots not postmarked the Thursday before the election.
- They have even considered multiple proposals that would give the state legislature the power to override the voters’ choice and decide presidential elections
If passed, these bills could have grave consequences for our state, purging hundreds of thousands of eligible voters from voting lists and putting up barriers for all voters — especially Black, Brown, and Indigenous voters — to make their voices heard.
