DETROITAll Voting is Local Michigan State Director Aghogho Edevbie issued the following statement in response to a misleading robocall to Detroit voters, spreading misinformation about voting by mail:

“I applaud Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and Attorney General Dana Nessel for their swift response to these recent voter intimidation tactics.

“Voting by mail is a safe and secure method to cast your ballot in Michigan. The information you provide when you register to vote, request a mailed ballot, or cast your ballot is used to ensure the privacy and security of your ballot.

“As we move closer to the election, we must remember that politically-motivated disinformation, particularly about voting by mail, will be fed into our social media pages, our news feeds, and to our homes. This is a scare tactic meant to subvert democracy and stop the votes of people of color, who have been hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We must ensure our voices are heard in November. If you come across information that confuses you, scares you, or is unfamiliar to you, contact the secretary of state’s office at [email protected] or call the nonpartisan voter hotline 866-OUR-VOTE.
