Wisconsin has a spring general election coming up! Key dates:

  • General election: April 4, 2023
  • In person voter registration deadline: March 31 (Note: You can also register in person when you vote on Election Day.)
  • Absentee ballot request deadline: March 30, 5 p.m. (Exceptions apply; learn more at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/Voter-Deadlines.)
  • Beginning of in-person absentee voting: March 21 (Contact your local election clerk for early in-person voting hours.)

Our report, “Getting There is Half the Battle: Wisconsin’s Photo ID Law, Access to DMV Services, and the Fight for Our Freedom to Vote,” breaks down how limited access to the Department of Motor Vehicles is a barrier to Wisconsinites’ obtaining the photo ID needed to cast a ballot. Together with the Wisconsin Disability Vote Coalition and the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin, we offer recommendations on how to expand access to the ballot, even amid Wisconsin’s restrictive voter ID law.
