What:
All Voting is Local Ohio and the Council on American Islamic Relations-Columbus Chapter will host a telephone town hall for voters who may be casting a ballot for the first time, those who may need language assistance, or those unfamiliar with the voting process. The groups will invite through call and text 30,000 Franklin County voters from the Arabic, Chinese, Nepalese, Somali and Spanish-speaking communities. Voting rights experts will answer questions and discuss a new initiative to provide multilingual poll workers at some Franklin County polling locations.

Who:
Ann Fisher, host of “All Sides with Ann Fisher,” on 89.7 NPR News at WOSU Public Media, will moderate the discussion. Other speakers include:

  • Usjid Hameed, public affairs coordinator, CAIR-Columbus Chapter
  • Angela Plummer, executive director, Community Refugee & Immigration Services

It is a collaborative campaign housed at The Leadership Conference Education Fund, in conjunction with Access Democracy; the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation; the American Constitution Society; the Campaign Legal Center; and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.
