Kayla Smith is All Voting is Local’s  National Democracy Defense Director.

Kayla has over a decade of experience serving as a coalition builder, partnerships manager and operations professional in the non-profit sector. She has worked on a number of environmental campaigns, including the Climate Action Campaign, the Clean Cars Campaign, and the Clean Water for All Campaign — all focused on driving ambitious federal action to address the climate crisis and to protect bedrock environment regulations. Kayla pivoted to the civic engagement and voter registration space in 2019 when she joined Civic Nation and served in a number of roles, including as Associate Director of Special Projects, Northeast Regional Director of Civic Nation’s When We All Vote initiative, Deputy Director of Partnerships and Government Affairs, Associate Director of Corporate Partnerships, and most recently as Chief of Staff at Civic Nation’s When We All Vote initiative. There, she was responsible for managing When We All Vote’s human, financial, and operational resources to achieve intended program goals of closing the voting race and age gap to fundamentally shift the culture around voting in every election.

Kayla holds a Bachelor’s degree in Government from Suffolk University and a Master’s degree in Diplomacy and International relations from Seton Hall University.
