Avila has more than 10 years of experience working with Native American communities. Prior to joining All Voting is Local, Avila was a judicial clerk for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Court, where she assisted trial and appellate court judges in drafting legal decisions related to various areas of Indian law. She holds a Juris Doctor from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, where she co-directed the Native Vote Election Protection initiative in 2016. She is also a graduate of the University of Arizona, where she holds a masters degree in American Indian studies, with a focus on law and policy.
