RENO Today, the Washoe County Board of Commissioners completed the canvassing process and certified the results of two recounted races after being threatened with legal action by Attorney General Ford for not certifying the results last week. In response, Kerry Durmick, All Voting is Local Nevada State Director, issued the following statement:

“We are happy that the election results are now certified, but this must not happen again in November. Commissioners Mike Clark, Jeanna Herman, and Clara Andriola caused unnecessary panic last week because they chose not to uphold the law and complete the certification process. The Board of Commissioners should have completed the certification process last week, and voters should have peace of mind following the election.

“We expected Commissioners Clark and Herman to vote no today. That is their pattern of practice, and it is still unacceptable that they would vote no the first two times. Today, Commissioner Clark only committed to certifying to avoid legal consequences. Commissioner Andriola’s vote shocked us last week, and, to be honest, we are totally disappointed that she would join them in an attempt to block voters and break the law in that way. Our top priority is to voters when they cast their ballots, and we’ll continue pushing back against any election sabotage attempts at every turn.”
