WAUSAU, Wisc. – In response to Wausau Mayor Doug Diny removing a publically accessible drop box over the weekend and putting it in his office, All Voting is Local Wisconsin State Director Sam Liebert released the following statement:
“Mayor Doug Diny is not the municipal clerk of Wausau, and therefore has no authority to remove a drop box. When the mayor dressed up with a hard hat and gloves for a photo of himself wheeling off the drop box, it displayed the actions of someone who would go to great lengths to keep voters from casting a ballot. His actions in the photo are clear.
“This is an egregious and physical attack on drop boxes by an election denier who is restricting voter access to the ballot box. The Wisconsin Attorney General needs to look into the events that took place immediately. Voters in Wausau and beyond deserve the right to vote via drop box.”
