Carson City, NV – Today, the Department of Justice filed lawsuits in four states, including Nevada, seeking access to complete voter registration lists. The information requested by the DOJ extends beyond publicly available voter registration information and could compromise sensitive driver’s license and Social Security information. In response, All Voting is Local Nevada State Director Kerry Durmick issued the following statement:
“This baseless lawsuit is clearly aimed at weaponizing voter data against the President’s perceived political enemies instead of what really matters – protecting free and fair elections. Full access to unredacted voter data will not only violate privacy laws but also enable large-scale voter challenges, false claims of fraud, and new attempts to impose proof-of-citizenship and other burdensome requirements that could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters nationwide, including hundreds of thousands of Nevadans.
These tactics have long been used to suppress participation, particularly among communities of color, students, and working-class voters. This lawsuit is an obvious weaponization of our institutions against everyday Americans, and Nevadans will not stand for it.”
