That’s why, alongside some of our partners, we have developed resources for election officials. We worked with the Brennan Center for Justice to develop four sets of guidelines for proper election administration in our states. These pieces address anything from limits on voter eligibility challenges to how to mitigate the effects of rogue poll workers. Our two organizations also joined forces with the Campaign Legal Center and Protect Democracy to create a fifth set of guidelines on state certification rules.

We also gathered technical, legal, mental health and security resources into one place for election officials and their staff to access at any time throughout an election cycle and beyond.

In a win for voters, the Department of Justice released guidance that addresses limits on how and when voters may be removed from the rolls, affirms that the 90-day window applies to challenges, and clarifies that third-party information is not sufficient for removal. We were proud to join other voting rights groups in working closely with the DOJ – including by producing a letter outlining our request and the detriments of mass voter challenges – to issue said guidelines.
