MILWAUKEE – All Voting is Local Wisconsin State Director, Shauntay Nelson, issued the following statement about the Wisconsin Election Commission’s announcement that the Trump campaign has asked for a recount in Milwaukee and Dane counties:
“When our leaders should be finding ways to support those impacted by COVID-19, they are instead fighting the will of Wisconsin voters who have spoken loud and clear. Specifically targeting Milwaukee and Dane counties, which have the highest number of COVID cases in the state, proves to be unconscionable.
“Hospitals are full and food lines are long. Pushing an unnecessary recount that won’t change the outcome takes away resources from the issues that matter most right now and disproportionately harms Black and Brown Wisconsinites. We stand with Wisconsinites who worked hard to have their voices heard in the middle of a pandemic. We also stand with our election clerks and staff who work tirelessly to make sure that every vote counts and every voice is heard.”
