PHOENIX — A coalition of voting rights organizations released the following statement ahead of the presentation of a sham ballot review “report” to the Arizona Senate. Reporting based on a draft of the “results” shows that this sham ballot review confirmed President Joe Biden beat Donald Trump in Arizona

“Last year, Arizona voters turned out in record numbers, despite the pandemic, to elect new leaders. But instead of doing the job that Arizonans elected them to do — from recovering from the pandemic to creating quality jobs to ensuring affordable healthcare — some Arizona politicians have been wasting an enormous amount of time and over $3 million of taxpayer money to push an anti-voter election review scam, hiring an unaccredited for-profit corporation to spread lies about the election so they can fundraise for their own campaigns, while the delta variant infects our kids and people suffer without quality jobs.

“This election review scam has been led by hyperpartisan actors, funded by special interest groups, and supported by conspiracy theorists as part of a national coordinated campaign to attack our freedom to vote and attempt to sabotage future elections. The release of today’s so-called ‘report’ is just the latest chapter in what we know will be ever-more extreme efforts to subvert the democratic process, including introducing legislation in 2022 based on this scam.

“We will continue to come together to fight against these assaults on our freedom, and will hold our officials to account to ensure our elections reflect the will of the people.”

Background:

In June, the Election Advocacy Coalition, made up of national and local Arizona organizations, sent a letter demanding that Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, Senate President Karen Fann, and House Speaker Rusty Bowers end and publicly disavow all aspects of the Maricopa County election review scam.
