DETROIT – All Voting is Local Action Michigan commends the Detroit City Council for passing a resolution on May 21, 2024, calling for Michigan legislators to pass the Michigan Voting Rights Action (MVRA). In response to the passage of the resolution, All Voting Is Local Action State Director Ashiya Brown released the following statement:
“Michigan can continue to be a national leader in voting rights protections by passing the Michigan Voting Rights Act. Despite the nationwide attacks on voting rights, the MVRA will enshrine voter protections into law for Michigan voters. As we work to strengthen democracy by expanding access to the ballot in Michigan, we urge legislators to pass the MVRA to protect voters. City and county leaders have been listening to their constituents, and we are calling for state legislators to do the same by passing the Michigan Voting Rights Act.”
