CARSON CITY, Nev. — In response to Elko County Clerk Kris Jakeman’s retirement effective October 6, 2023, All Voting is Local Action Nevada State Director Kerry Durmick wrote and submitted a letter to the Elko County Board of Commissioners strongly recommending the appointment of Deputy Clerk Rebecca Plunkett as the next Elko County Clerk.
“Deputy Clerk Plunkett is a dedicated and experienced public servant with a proven track record of leadership in the Elko County Clerk’s office and the management of Elko County elections,” Durmick wrote. “Over the last several elections, Deputy Clerk Plunkett has worked on many high-profile election projects and has helped run elections… since 2019, the Nevada Legislature passed and implemented several new election laws that included all active and registered Nevada voters receiving vote-by-mail ballots, the opportunity for same-day voter registration, and Tribal Nations being guaranteed reservation-based polling places. Deputy Plunkett led these challenging yet encouraging voting law implementations with Clerk Jakeman.”
Durmick also noted that Clerk Jakeman’s resignation email also included a recommendation for Deputy Clerk Plunkett to be appointed as Elko County Clerk.
