PHOENIX – Today, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs signed a bipartisan budget bill that excluded a number of proposed anti-voter provisions. This was in addition to her vetoing several bills throughout the session that would have threatened voting rights if signed into law. In response, Alex Gulotta, All Voting is Local Action Arizona’s State Director, issued the following statement:

“We are grateful to Gov. Hobbs for protecting the ability of elections officials to operate county elections safely and free from partisan interference during the 2025 legislative session.

“Whether it was thwarting last-minute amendments to the budget or vetoing bills that sought to restrict eligible voters’ ability to vote in their elections, Gov. Hobbs fought to ensure that efforts to restrict access to the ballot box for eligible voters did not go into law this session. The bills vetoed would have outlawed vote centers (HB2017), restricted voter registration assistance efforts (HB2004), and limited voters’ ability to drop off their ballot on election day without standing in line and checking in (HB2703). As anti-voter efforts continue to ramp up in Arizona, All Voting is Local Action is dedicated to ensuring that attempts to suppress the vote will not succeed, and we will continue to work alongside state and county officials to ensure that Arizonans’ freedom to vote remains protected.”
