PHOENIX –  Today, Governor Katie Hobbs vetoed HB2560, which would have made ballot images and the cast vote record available before the completion and certification of Arizona’s elections. All Voting Is Local Action’s Arizona State Director Alex Gulotta released the following statement:

“Thank you to Governor Hobbs for protecting Arizona’s elections by vetoing this bill, which would have empowered conspiracy theorists to spread disinformation about Arizona elections. Voters deserve solutions that lead to greater trust in elections and it is the Arizona legislature’s responsibility to find them. HB2560 would have made our elections less secure, despite efforts to label the bill as a step toward greater transparency. We need champions to provide safeguards as we search for the best solutions to strengthen our democracy. Gov. Hobbs is providing those safeguards.”
