PHILADELPHIA  All Voting is Local Action Pennsylvania’s State Director Nick Pressley issued the following statement ahead of the state legislature passing the annual budget for the Pennsylvania Department of State for the 2024 fiscal year:

“Pennsylvanians deserve to have confidence in knowing that their vote will be counted. A fully funded elections system can ensure that our votes

are being counted in a safe, efficient, and legal manner. Increased funding would include clearer directions for voters that result in less confusion, better poll worker training that leads to fewer mistakes at voting sites, and more drop box availability in counties throughout the state. The bad news is that funding for PA’s central election administration through the Department of State is among the lowest in the country.

“Now more than ever, Pennsylvania’s elections are being attacked by bad-faith actors and conspiracy theorists. Having strong and well-resourced elections can silence these threats while empowering voters. The state’s lawmakers must come together to increase the Pennsylvania Department of State’s budget and allow for smoother elections to be run across the Commonwealth.”
