PHOENIX – Today, Secretary of State Fontes, Senator Sundareshan, and Representative De Los Santos, along with other bill sponsors, introduced the Voters First Act, a bill that seeks to make Arizona’s elections free, fair, and accessible. The bill includes provisions that would adopt vote centers statewide, count early ballots accidentally delivered to the wrong county, extend early voting and early ballot drop-off, and restore the Permanent Early Voting List (PEVL), among other changes. In response, Alex Gulotta, All Voting Is Local Action Arizona State Director, issued the following statement:
“A thriving democracy depends on elections that are accessible, and Arizona voters need elections that work for them. This bill offers an affirmative vision of what that can look like. Vote centers, expanded early voting and ballot drop-off, and restoring the Permanent Early Voting List for mail voters are commonsense ways to ensure that Arizonans can exercise their constitutional right to vote in ways that suit their busy lives.
