MADISON–With early voting underway in a critical Wisconsin Supreme Court election April 2, All Voting is Local launched today a “Badgers Vote” digital ad campaign to encourage the campus community at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to cast a ballot to ensure a democracy that works for all.

“The Wisconsin Supreme Court makes critical decisions about our rights that influence the future of our democracy,” said Molly McGrath, All Voting is Local’s Wisconsin State Director. “We know students are engaged and want their voices heard when it comes to voting rights and our democracy. But they may not know an election is happening now. Our goal is to empower voters by raising the visibility of this under-the-radar election that offers an essential chance to shape the future of the Wisconsin Supreme Court for decades.”

The ‘Badgers Vote’ campaign includes multimedia ads on Instagram and Snapchat urging students to “vote today for the democracy we deserve.”  An accompanying website at https://www.badgersvote.com provides key details on early voting locations and hours so students and others in the campus community can vote when it’s most convenient to them, balancing work, family obligations or class schedules. The site offers links and maps to on-campus polling locations and hours, as well as resources about how to register and obtain the proper ID required to vote.

Badgers Vote is the latest initiative in All Voting is Local’s Wisconsin voter education campaign “Together We Vote,” launched in September 2018. Together We Vote is a multimedia education effort designed to empower communities of color and other historically disenfranchised groups in several Wisconsin counties with critical information so voters are prepared to go to the polls and exercise their right to be counted.

Last year, Together We Vote reached more than 16,000 voters through canvasses in Milwaukee, Dane and other Wisconsin counties and several thousand more with billboards, radio, digital and bus ads; a direct mailing; a voter hotline; and volunteer canvassers talking to voters. A post election analysis found turnout jumped 14-17 percent over 2014 in target areas, compared to 10 percent statewide.
