TALLAHASSEE — All Voting is Local Florida and partners sent a letter Thursday to all 67 Florida supervisors of elections, to recommend ways on how to best implement the latest anti-voter law in the state (Senate Bill 7050). The letter underscored that the worst impacts of the new law that will further restrict voting access in Florida can be mitigated if elections officials in each county successfully communicate the new regulations with voters via mailed materials and website updates.

In addition, supervisors of elections should take steps to make public notices that will no longer be placed in newspapers and easy to find and do additional outreach by directly contacting individual voters, among other steps. The letter further recommends that local elections offices more actively engage with third-party voter registration organizations, whose operations will be severely impacted with the new changes in Florida’s voting laws.

“These changes will further impact voter accessibility, particularly for voters who prefer to vote by mail, and could potentially limit the availability of voter registration resources in often-overlooked communities,” the letter reads. “As voting rights organizations, we have created the following list of recommendations to ensure that all voters within your jurisdiction are aware of changes to procedures related to the implementation of new state laws, so that no eligible voter misses the opportunity to cast their ballot.”
