TALLAHASSEE — All Voting is Local Florida’s State Director Brad Ashwell issued the following statement in response to Gov. Ron DeSantis signing SB4-B into law today expanding the jurisdiction of the statewide prosecutor over Florida’s Office of Election Crimes and Security:
“Giving the statewide prosecutor more power to prosecute voters is the latest attack on Florida’s elections by Gov. DeSantis. The expansion of the Office of Election Crimes and Security is ultimately meant to intimidate and silence voters.
“This is a clear power grab meant to take these cases away from impartial state attorneys and give them to a subservient prosecutor. Voting is not a crime. Those who seek to criminalize it are actively subverting our democracy.”
