TALLAHASSEE — All Voting is Local and partner organizations sent a letter today to Florida state lawmakers and county commissioners to highlight the critical role they play in combating dis- and misinformation about elections through avoiding the amplification of false claims. The groups also underscored that sharing accurate and reliable information ahead of the November general election will be key in dispelling false rumors about our elections and how they are run.
The letter enumerates the various systems in place to keep Florida elections secure. Whether it’s a required certification process of the votes or mandatory logic and accuracy testing of voting equipment, several effective security measures protect Florida elections. It’s important for all public officials to be aware of and capable of communicating the current system of checks and balances so they can address concerns about election security in the Sunshine State.
