Washington, D.C.All Voting is Local, a nonpartisan organization that works to safeguard the rights of voters at the state and local levels, released a new research report: Election Budgeting: A Deeper Dive into the Cost of State Elections. The reality is that elections are regularly underfunded at the state and local levels, causing problems that range from not being able to train and hire employees and leaving positions unfilled for years, to not being able to purchase the basic equipment needed to conduct elections. This report looks at the budget allocations for election administration in eight states, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, and 16 local jurisdictions within these states.
