WASHINGTON, D.C. – As part of an ongoing effort to protect voters from being silenced at the ballot box and ensure that voting is fair and inclusive for all Americans, All Voting is Local Executive Director Hannah Fried released the following statement regarding threats to voting rights during President Trump’s first 100 days:

“These first 100 days have been a five-alarm fire for the freedom to vote, at the federal level and in the states. From threats like the White House executive order on elections that undermines the state election administration powers granted by the U.S. Constitution, to the SAVE Act and copycat bills in Ohio and Michigan that would require voters to show a passport or birth certificate to vote and have been proven in other states to be harmful, the voting rights assaults during this time specifically hurt Black, Brown, Native American, and other historically marginalized communities. They also set a tone for further efforts to erode voting rights and consolidate power at all levels of government in the lead-up to next year’s midterm elections.

“The anti-voter seeds planted at the state level are informing federal-level strategies and vice versa. As of April 29, there are nearly 300 days before the first primary of the 2026 midterm elections. We have time to ensure voters can cast a ballot that will count and that state election officials have what they need to ensure smooth-running elections, not more hurdles. The path forward requires vigilance and action, and we’ve seen recent major wins with last week’s ruling against a provision of the elections executive order. We must resist anti-voter laws and advocate for policies that make it easier, not harder, for every voter to participate in our democracy. We know that’s what Americans want, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.”
