Carson City, NV — Today, the Nevada Legislature unanimously approved SB 421, a bill that would make important changes to increase voter access in Nevada’s Tribal Nations by guaranteeing adequate staff and requiring training that is either virtual or on Tribal land. The bill now heads to Governor Lombardo’s desk. In response, Jennifer Willett, All Voting Is Local’s Nevada senior campaign manager, issued the following statement:
“Nevada is home to 21 federally recognized Tribal Nations where over 30,000 Tribal members live. Despite making up a good portion of our state’s population, Nevada’s Tribal members have for too long been subject to unfair burdens that make it difficult to participate in elections. SB 421 provides several important fixes, such as guaranteeing sufficient staff to run elections in Tribes and requiring poll worker training to be conducted either virtually or on Tribal land. We applaud the Legislature for passing this crucial bill and urge Governor Lombardo to sign it into law.”
