Phoenix, AZ – Today, it was made public that the Trump administration has subpoenaed election information from the Arizona State Senate related to debunked 2020 election conspiracy theories. This action follows the Department of Justice’s seizure of similar election-related materials in Fulton County, Georgia, in late January on similarly debunked claims. In response, All Voting is Local Arizona State Director Alex Gulotta issued the following statement:
“President Trump’s obsession with an election he lost more than five years ago is a complete waste of government resources and an attempt to distract from the fact that Americans are struggling to keep up with everyday costs, rising gas prices, and other pressing concerns. This phony ‘investigation’ is the latest chapter in Trump’s vendetta against the American people, particularly those who do not support him. He’s recycling disproven 2020 conspiracy theories about Arizona’s elections to justify interfering with free and fair elections, especially ahead of the midterms. These are the same types of lies that were used to conduct the FBI raid in Georgia and will likely be used elsewhere, especially as dangerous calls to nationalize our elections continue to arise.
“But our call is clear: Hands off our vote. It is time that election officials and voters themselves name these threats plainly and protect the freedom to vote for millions of Americans who depend on access to the ballot box to improve their everyday lives.”
