DETROIT — All Voting is Local today announced a campaign to empower Michigan voters, particularly people of color and young people, to vote by mail through a series of text messages reaching over 521,000 voters, direct calls reaching over 124,000 voters, and digital ads walking them through the absentee voting process. As Pennsylvania prepares for its June 2 primary, just two days before the state’s stay-at-home orders are lifted on June 4, state and local election officials must act now to ensure the pandemic doesn’t jeopardize our election. Voters shouldn’t have to choose between their safety and making their voices heard. Officials must take steps to protect both: mail every registered voter a ballot with paid return postage. At a minimum, officials should extend the deadlines to apply for and submit ballots by mail.
