Arizona, Maricopa County has record voter turnout for primary election

PHOENIX – Despite 62 polling locations in Maricopa County that were not open on time on election day, Arizona saw the largest voter turnout than any other primary in the state’s history. Nearly 1.2 million Arizonans cast a ballot, which is about 33 percent of the state’s registered voters, according to the official election canvas.

The League of Women Voters of Florida, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Florida, All Voting is Local Florida, the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU Law, and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund ask county Supervisors of Elections to follow the example of officials who have made it top priority to establish early voting on some college campuses in Alachua, Hillsborough, Leon, and Orange counties.
