Atlanta–All Voting is Local welcomed Aklima Khondoker as its Georgia State Director. Khondoker brings on-the-ground experience to All Voting is Local as it expands its fight to Georgia.

“Aklima is a top-notch advocate and we are thrilled to have her join our team as we expand our work to Georgia,” said Hannah Fried, All Voting is Local’s National Campaign Director. “Georgia voters are doing everything in their power to make their voices heard but are being blocked by discriminatory barriers to the ballot. Our work in Georgia is critical this election year, as we fight wrongful voter purges, polling place closures and other efforts to silence voters of color. The fight for the right to vote is more urgent than ever and we are excited to have Aklima lead our efforts in Georgia.”

Khondoker most recently worked as a staff attorney and the senior manager for the Voting Access Project at the ACLU of Georgia, where she focused on First and Fourth amendment issues, women’s reproductive freedoms, and voting rights. Her voting rights work in Georgia included both litigation and advocacy, including successfully advocating for more voting sites. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Stony Brook University and a law degree from John Marshall Law School in Atlanta.

Khondoker will be based in Atlanta, joining All Voting Is Local’s team working on the ground in key states facing distinct assaults on voting rights: Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
