RENO — All Voting is Local Nevada State Director Kerry Durmick issued the following statement in response to Governor Steve Sisolak signing AB4 into law, which expands voting-by-mail, including mailing ballots to all active voters, and safeguards polling place availability when state officials declare a state of emergency or disaster.
“We applaud Governor Sisolak and the state legislature for acting now to ensure no voter should be forced to choose between their health and making their voice heard in the November general election. By making it easier to vote by mail — long demonstrated to be safe and secure — lawmakers codified what we know to be true: our democracy works best when we all can participate.
“This comprehensive approach will help Nevadans vote in the way that works best for them. But these crucial reforms will only be successful if both state and local officials work now to plan the law’s implementation and communicate with voters ahead of November.”
