LAS VEGAS — In response to Commissioner Jeanne Herman’s recent recommendations made to the Washoe County Board of County Commissioners to adopt Election Resolution R22-28 and direct the Registrar of Voters to implement anti-voter policies by the 2022 primary election, All Voting is Local Nevada State Director Kerry Durmick issued the following statement:
“This anti-voter resolution would disenfranchise Washoe County voters by asking the Washoe County Registrar’s office to implement unconstitutional and illegal measures that include: purging the voter registration list in a way that defies state law requirements; decreasing the number of voting machines, which would only increase longer lines for voters; enforcing a Nevada National Guard presence at polling places and ballot box locations; canceling a voter’s registration after five years for no reason whatsoever; and more. This resolution will only negatively impact access to the ballot, and we urge the county commission to reject these measures and uphold the freedom to vote for all Nevadans.”
The Washoe County Board of County Commissioners may vote on this resolution on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 or another upcoming Washoe County Board of County Commissioners meeting. The resolution can be found on line item 14 as found in the notice of meeting and agenda released by the board.
